2021 Chicago Lakefront 50K
- George Cheung Memorial Race22nd Annual Spring-Season Chicago Lakefront Ultras 50-Km!
The 22nd annual spring season Chicago Lakefront Ultras 50K - George Cheung Memorial Race made a most triumphant return to the city's south side, following last spring's cancellation due to onset of the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. This weekend's running marked the first in a span of 21 years that Pat and Beth Onines did not serve as race directors (see press release below). Pat and Beth along with race founder Stuart Schulman made an onsite morning appearance, toured parts of the racecourse, greeting and cheering runners... many long-time participants were thrilled to see them!
Safety precautions for the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic necessitated permitting of two Jackson Park groves and splitting the 100-maximum participants into two separate starting fields, each group of 50 with their respective aid station. Thanks to the ultra running community of volunteers who generously staffed the aid stations...
