Fearless Leader brought some valuable newspaper clippings. From June 24, 1981: The Brickyard race--"Hit the Bricks for Children's Memorial Hospital," 6.2 miles on Sunday, June 21, 1981. 200 runners ran this race, including Striders winning awards: Mike Bastian, 4th Place, 33:19. Karen Morris, 1st Place, 41:26, Gail Varner, 2nd Place, 41:38, Barbara DeWolfe, 3rd Place, 41:43, Heidi Christiansen, 4th Place 43:00. Race Director: Mike Matarano.
