Chicago Half Marathon 9/11/2011
I ran the Chicago Half Marathon on a historical date: 9/11/2011. Exactly ten years after the World Trade Center tragedies. The day started out cool, but transitioned to a very hot race in the 80's. It was great running into RP Strider, Jay Hughston on the way back. His time was 2:17:12. My finish was 3:16:41. A very inspiring moment before the race, was the National Anthem--sung by members of the USO. The FDNY Rescue #4 from the 9/11 events, fully-refurbished, led out the race.
Here are some pictures from the event. One more thing, I dedicated this race to Renee who is recovering from foot surgery.
